We would like to provide an update regarding concerns that have been raised with us about loud fireworks being set off late at night.

Over recent months, a number of residents have spoken to us at local police surgeries and during community engagement visits to report the disturbance and distress caused by fireworks being discharged during the evening and night time hours. We understand the impact this can have on residents, families, pets, and local businesses.

Following enquiries and discussions with neighbouring policing teams, we have established that the activity is believed to be taking place within the Sholver area.

As this location falls outside of our neighbourhood policing area, the matter is not one that our team can directly investigate. However, we have ensured that the appropriate neighbourhood policing team has been made fully aware of the concerns raised by residents. In addition, the local authority has also been informed and is leading efforts to address the issue and identify those responsible.

We would like to thank everyone who has taken the time to report incidents and share information with us. Community intelligence plays a vital role in helping agencies understand local concerns and take appropriate action.
